This month we focus on the Lord our God, His first commandment, and what it means to believe in Him and to love Him. The Lord God Jesus Christ is the one God of heaven and earth. He is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere present. He wants nothing more than to have us conjoined or bonded to Him and so experience the eternal heavenly happiness that He longs to give us. What is our part in developing this bond? A key step is contained in the first commandment-we must put aside all other gods in our lives and worship the Lord alone.

But to believe in the Lord and love Him, also requires living from Him. And we can only live from the Lord when we live according to His Word and practice the true spiritual principles He has given us. As He told His disciples, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15).
