- The Lord on the White Horse
- Introduction
Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse.
And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True....
And His name is called The Word of God.
(Revelation 19:11,13)
The Lord showed the apostle John many wonderful visions while he was on the island of Patmos. One of the most spectacular was the Lord riding on a white horse. This vision illustrates His love, wisdom, and power. The sword coming from the Lord's mouth pictures His truth, ready to conquer evil and falsity. His eyes - looking like a flame of fire - picture the Lord's deep love for all people and His desire to protect and lead them to heaven. The white horse upon which the Lord is riding symbolizes a spiritual understanding of truth in the Word.
Centuries after John wrote down his visions, the Lord revealed that the things that he described in the book of Revelation are prophecies about a New Church. These prophecies were fulfilled when the Lord gave a new revelation that told of the inner, spiritual meaning of the Word. This revelation gives us a new way to understand and "see" the Lord as we read His Word.
Now that this revelation has been made, the Lord is establishing His New Church on the earth. All people are invited to be a part of it. We hope that these readings and activities will help you and your family to understand the promise of John's vision more fully and to rejoice in the truths of the new revelation.
