"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; For without Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

No person left to himself is able to do what is good or think what is true.
He can do so only with the Lord's help, as is clear in...John 15:5.
(Arcana Coelestia 9445)

The Lord is the vine, giving life to us all and showering us with His love and His wisdom. We are the branches. We are connected to the vine when we are looking to the Lord and obeying His commandments. The fruit of our lives is everything we do that serves others. Our good works do not come from us, but from the Lord, through us.

The Lord's words about the vine and branches can help us understand our part in bringing what is good and true together in useful service to others. The Lord continually blesses us with a variety of ways that we can find happiness through use. In our homes, our work place, our community - there are a multitude of opportunities to show love toward our neighbor. It is our hope that these materials will inspire you to seek out chances to let the Lord work by means of you.
