I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me,
though he may die, he shall live (John 11:25).
Let him who wishes to be eternally happy
know and believe that he will live after death.
Let him think of this and keep it in mind,
for it is the truth (Arcana Coelestia 8939:3).
Life is eternal. It is a never-ending gift from the Lord. While we are immersed in the details of our natural lives, we may not think about life after death. But the time will come when each of us will cross from this world to the next. Death is but a bridge to the spiritual world, a place where the inner person or spirit continues life. The natural body dies, but the Lord provides everyone with a spiritual body that reflects the inner person's loves and desires.
The purpose of creation is a heaven from the human race. And so the Lord created each one of us with the potential to become an angel. He wants to give us the happiness of heaven, but he leaves us in freedom to choose. Do we want the peace and joy of life in heaven? Or will we reject heaven and instead choose life in hell? We make this choice gradually as we nurture thoughts and feelings and find ways to express them in our lives. Knowing this, we should live for our eternal future, not just in the present.
We hope this month's website will help you focus on the Lord's eternal goals for your life and show you ways that you can cooperate with Him, so that He can give you the happiness of heaven.
